Meet The New Boss

1. The most important political issue is electoral reform. 2. Individual leadership based decision making is going to get us all killed. Just as our awareness expands to each level of understanding so too are we nested within concurrent systems of control.

My nation recently had a federal election. Part of the rhetoric of the opposing parties this time around was to attack the cost of the election specifically. “Hundreds of millions of dollars… In a pandemic!?!” This irony is particularly biting. It should strike everyone as obvious that were a different coloured team in charge, the exact same thing would have occurred. I expect our ‘leaders’ to be absolutely terrible at their jobs. This is not to ascribe some malice to them as people but rather to suggest that the system is long overdue for a redesign. We are selecting for popularity when what we require is technical expertise. There is a big problem with leadership. It is suicidally insane for individual human beings to make decisions for things as complicated as multinational corporations and nation states in 2021. We have tribal chiefs in charge of things that they cannot possibly understand. The buck stops nowhere and the ship is rudderless.

The hope I have that a road to freedom still exists is based on removing apathy from the zeitgeist and adding logic in its place. We are such good obedient slaves. The most effective cage is the one with invisible bars. We need distributed, consensus-based decision making. Not leaders. We need to be able to vote on our own laws and administrators, not elect representatives whose structural incentives could never match our own. Perhaps hundreds of years ago representative democracy was the most free a society could possibly be. This vestigial useless bloat must be transcended if we are to free ourselves. There is no political issue of any importance other than electoral reform. If you would ever protest for anything, you are fully wasting your effort, unless you are protesting for electoral reform. The political spectrum is a false dichotomy. People aren’t right or left, or one colour or another. We all have a variety of interests that sometimes overlap. In order to not be enslaved by the special interests we currently are enslaved by, or the tyranny of the majority, we must produce a structure that is adaptive and will grow over time. We must represent ourselves. The age when politician is considered a profession must come to an end. Otherwise we will meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I love hearing this opinion from you. I have heard it in a number of your YT vids. My brain tends to spend its time contemplating other problems. Systems are not my specialty.

But, I'd like to understand more.

Do you think that the whole world should be governed as one?

Pete, your accent tells me you are Canadian. I'm sad to hear that politics up there are just as awful as they are here in Murca. I agree that election reform is the number one priority. Have you looked into the Forward party?
